Details of how to find the cemeteries or war dead of the First World War

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission houses the most extensive databases of cemeteries where Commonwealth causalities of both the First World War and Second World War.

You will see in this cemeteries section there are a number of memorials, these memorials are in lieu of a grave.  When a serviceman had no known grave, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission put their name on a memorial within or near to the cemetery nearest to the site of their death.
