Glasgow is working with the First World War Centenary Partnership to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of the start of the conflict on the 4 August 1914.

  • From 2014, the world will be commemorating the centenary of the start of the First World War. It lasted four years and we now know that it changed forever the lives of everyone who lived through that time.
  • Glasgow has many memorials dedicated to those who fell in the Great War.
  • The Victoria Cross is the highest award for gallantry that a British and Commonwealth serviceman can achieve.
